Description

Our client is looking for a Hydraulics General Manager to manage their Hydraulic Systems business in the North West of England. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with working to deadlines, results-driven and with a deep interest in fluid power and mechanical systems. While office-based, this is a customer-facing role, with full P&L responsibility for a fourty plus person team. You will be responsible for leading the production of manufacturing operations, application engineering, all health and safety and quality management on site as well.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the KPI dashboard and process to set performance targets to drive productivity
  • Together with the Divisional Director, maintain the orderbook ensuring all expected dates reflect the latest production forecast.
  • Liaise with the Divisional Director to establish relevant controls for all consumable items, ship to line parts and free issue components.
  • Provide regular Operational specific KPI\'s to facilitate decision making.
  • Lead and manage the production departments to ensure delivery of the production plan.
  • Together with the Principal Hydraulics engineer ensure the highest engineering standards are achieved whilst delivering the customer required specification.
  • Ensure labour controls are effective driving efficiencies and quality performance, reporting variances against labour standard times and non-productive.
  • Ensure regular capacity reviews are undertaken with regards to sub-contracting critical operations.
  • Ensure all operating requirements of the QA and Sage MRP system are complied with
  • Ensure full and appropriate use of business tools including Sage. Orders and Notion
  • Ensure accurate and clean data is maintained in all areas of the Sage system
  • Ensure supply of accurate data from production to facilitate accurate management accounts, particularly work in progress
  • Drive continuous improvement culture amongst the staff, using lean methodologies
  • Build a high performing team which is recognised within the Group.
  • To play an active part in working with supply chain colleagues in supporting initiatives to improve the end to end processes.
  • Collaborate with supply chain to drive supplier conformance
  • To lead SHEQ on site and act as a role model for the Group by ensuring the company Health and Safety, engineering and quality standards and procedures are adhered to. This will include Risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work and hazard identification.
  • Create both daily and monthly cost and performance model

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree educated (or HND with strong additional training)
  • Strong technically
  • Good Lean, experience (GEMBA, Kaizen)
  • Experience with Health and Safety culture
  • Industrial markets (i.e., aerospace or specialist automotive) focus on time delivery
  • Operated within a precision engineering business, small batch, technical products
  • Operational turnaround experience within a range of industries, sectors and environments
  • Ability to drive performance improvements through changes to operational methodology and performance target setting.
  • Demonstrable capability in managing cost out improvements
  • Demonstrable track record in managing effective cultural change.
  • Track record in building confidence amongst peers and the wider business in both the day to day management of operations and in developing efficiency plans and strategies to support the business
